The 16th edition of the IAOS Conference with the title “Better statistics for better lives” took place at the OECD Headquarters in Paris, France, jointly organised by the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It represented an important opportunity to drive the agenda towards better understanding official statistics, increasing their usefulness, addressing challenges, and finding potential options to improve statistics in a particular subject or field.
In this context also MAKSWELL project was presented by two project’s partners: the researchers Tommaso Rondinella from Istat and Natalie Rosenski from Destatis. The first presentation (ref.: Final Programme – Day 1 Wednesday 19 September 2018, Parallel Sessions 1 B #4, 11:00 – 13:00) focuses on the first research results of WP1 concerning well-being and sustainability indicators stocktaking and on the reflection paper on future research need produced in WP5 while the second (ref.: Final Programme – Day 2 Thursday 20 September 2018 Parallel Sessions 3 A #4, 10:00 – 10:30) deals with remote sensing data combined with traditional data sources to explore social and economic indicators in order to improve official statistics.
